          Hong Chun Zhang (known as Zhang Chun Hong in China) was born in 1971, Shenyang, China.

          In 1994, she received a BFA degree in Chinese Painting from Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. In 1996, Hong came to America with her twin sister to expand their education in fine arts. In 2004, she completed the MFA program at University of California, Davis.

          Hong currently resides in Lawrence, KS with her husband and daughter. 

          Hong uses disembodied long, black and straight hair as a reference to her identity. Her ceiling to floor sized charcoal drawings on scrolls combine traditional skills with contemporary ideas.
