Canadian pop rock singer and songwriter Leslie Feist was born on February 13, 1976 in Amherst, Nova Scotia.
Feist meaning
At the age of 15, Feist formed a punk band called 'Placebo', not to be confused with the more successful British band of the same name. Despite this, Feist and her band achieved some success, including sharing the stage with the legendary 'Ramones' during the Infest festival.
Feist's parents were well-known Canadian-American expressionist artist Harold Feist and artist Lyn Feist.
However, their creative union didn't last long and they separated when Feist was young. She grew up with her mother, first in Regina, Saskatchewan and later in Calgary, Alberta. As a child, Feist dreamed of becoming a writer and was passionately involved in singing in a church choir.
