          Anna was born in Wayne, Pennsylvania, to Nicola Moffo, a shoemaker, and Regina Sinti.

          After finishing school, she received an offer to go to Hollywood, but she declined and chose to enroll at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. There, Anna studied with Yufimia Giannini-Gregori, the sister of the famous soprano Dusolina Giannini.
